One of the first initiatives of the NRSC was to develop a Natural Resources Inventory (NRI) that focused on the CF POA natural areas.  Equinox, the project lead created a CF Biodiversity Exploration Project (BEP) utilizing iNaturalist, which is a citizen science software app.  The iNauralist provides a place for nature enthusiasts to record, identify, and organize photographs of nature findings, and learn about the natural world.

The initial CF BEP provided information for the inventory by collecting data about the flora (plants) and fauna (animals) that exist in our community and make it so beautiful. In 2023, Equinox completed the NRI Report, which identified six forest types and hundreds of plants including five rare plant species. 

 

To date, the project has 27 people who have added over 460 observations of 290 different species from within Connestee.  The community is encouraged to set up an account in the app, which will provide you with access to all the wonderful photos and the ability to add your own photos to the project.
