Volunteer Opportunities

The NRSC is seeking volunteers to assist with our education and outreach publications, programs, and other stewardship activities.

Hemlock Restoration- Beginning in Spring 2026, the NRSC will chemically treat CFPOA hemlocks along our hiking trails and in our common areas to protect them against the invasive HWA insect. Local non-profit, Hemlock Restoration Initiative (HRI), will be providing free training for all volunteers.

Natural Resource Articles- The NRSC publishes a short "Did you know..." article for the weekly CF Friday Flyer.  An article is typically two to three short paragraphs that help to educate, entertain, inform, or persuade residents on a topic related to the natural resources of our community.  If you like to research and write longer articles, there is also an opportunity to do so for the monthly CF e-news.

Invasive Species Mitigation- The NRSC needs volunteers who are willing to assist with mitigating invasive plants located at trail heads, along the trails and roadways of other POA natural areas.

Education- The NRSC needs volunteers passionate about birds, aquatic habitat, geology, trees, plants, and/or other natural resources topics to lead nature excursions, such as a one to two-hour walk or hike and talk.
