Preliminary Forest Management Survey Presentation

​CF Natural Resources Inventory Report (NRI) By Equinox

The Board of Directors commissioned Equinox Environmental from Asheville to conduct an inventory of the natural resources to form a basis for future planning.  (Read the summary)

This NRI report serves as a baseline assessment of natural resources that are contained within the property. It contains a delineation of forested natural communities as well as an assessment of their age, health, and any notable components. The report also contains a description of the type, quantity, and quality of stream and wetland resources observed thus far​ as well as wildlife presence/absence.  (Read the full report)

In order to gather benchmark data regarding opinions of Connestee Falls owners regarding our natural resources, the Natural Resources Stewardship Committee (NRSC) conducted a member survey via Survey Monkey in Fall 2022.  (Read the full report)

Hiking Trail Invasive Species mitigation

An Invasive Plant Task Force composed of volunteers from the Trail Builders, Trail Stewards and the NRSC gathered on September 15, 2023 and September 6, 2024 to mitigate Invasive Plants (IPs).  (Read the full article)

Bird Sanctuary Areas

The Natural Resource Stewardship Committee (NRSC) hosted a Blue Ribbon event on March 28, 2023 to celebrate the installation of six new nesting boxes at the Lake Wanteska Dam overflow.  (Read the full article)

Focus on Connestee Events

The NRSC sponsors educational excursions and presentations, many of which are led by residents of Connestee.  Walks and talks about geology, wildflowers, birds, trees, and ferns, as well as presentations about bears, deer, and the HRI-Hemlock Restoration Initiative. (Go to Events)
